Soul of the Poet 2

Mother Rosa

In memory of Rosa L. Parks

Freedom.

You carried that banner
For us all
And for all of us you stood
The test of time
And weathered every storm
In order to bring
On FREEDOM as our goal and place
FREEDOM in our sights.

You sat down
So we can move up,
You sat down
So our children's children
Won't give up or give out.

You carried that torch
Of FREEDOM in order
To bring hope for others
Even in a dying world
Where race is an issue
You were the one
The barrier of that light....

The Dance of Winter's Wonder

The winter's cold
Falls suddenly as those outside
Bungles up in their winter wears.

The crisp December air
Cuts like a knife
As the winter's old man dances
Around in a symphony of winter's
Song playing repeats
In those winter days.

The crystal snowy flakes
Fall freely dancing like
Tiny dancers in a winter's ballet
In December air
As I watch in wonder
The beauty of winter's wonderland
Right before my very eyes.
The delight of it all
To watch winter unfold like
Pages of a book that
You pick up and look
At the pictures and you
See it before your very eyes.

The winter nights are special
With the moon up
Shinning brightly illuminating
The night   skies with delight
Shinning a reflecting on the snow
The starry clear skies
Reflects the loveliness of the night
Gleaming
Brightly in the upward skies
Lovely and bright
Because the night's affair
To bring about a joy to see
Even now....

Soul Mate
*a wedding poem*

In my heart
I do believe
Our love is true
And it won't depart
No matter what we go through
You are my soul mate.
Lifetime partners yes
Until the end
But I guess
And you know that my lover my friend
My African Queen everyday
Love has found us
In every-way.
Truly  soulmates for life
Soon we will
Be together as husband and wife
My African Queen
My soul mate.

The Common Man

to Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen

The common man gets up in the morning

To work in. order to feed his family,
The common man struggles to make ends meet
Not letting his family go hungry,
The common man prays for his family daily
From any hurt harm or danger
That's what the common man does.
The common loves his wife and kids,
Holding things together everyday.
The common man works sunrise to sunset
Does what he can in every way.
The common man is peaceable to his fellow man
Not in war with his neighbor
Being the kind of man who loves----
Yeah, that's what the common man does.
The common man believes in God
And all His wondrous things He do,
Prays with his family daily
He tries to be true,
True to his family and his God
That's common man as you see
And that's what he does.

Now that you know what is a common man,
And what a common man does and do,
guess you can see my point of view
Then clearly understand
About the common man.

In case you haven't seen one
Look around and take a good look----
And you'll surely fine and understood
The common man and his purpose
Yes that's what the common man does.

As Crazy As This Sound

Hey girl,
Are you thinking of me?
I am sure thinking of you
Even more and more
As the mood is set just right
And the night is cool as it can be
As you and I are snuggled
Up against each other so in love.

I just wanted to that light
Shinning on you day and night and
Always and forever and a day!
You with your sexy self
Looking good to eat
Looking good enough to be like ice cream
Just to scoop you up like every single flor
There is to be flavored.

Be like fried chicken
Fried nd well seasoned at all times.
with every topping galore
To fit you like a "T".

As crazy this sounds
You give me fever to burn
Torch hot to sizzle and then more.
baby you are the one for me
Because you are the one for me
As crazy as it sounds
But I don't care
I just want you!

THE BLACK POET SPEAKS

I write as I speak to you
In a poem I write to you
May God's blessings be plentiful for you
I bid my people long life and love,
I bid you my people peace among one another,
I bid financial success to you my blessed people.
God's richest blessings upon you as I speak,
The black poet has spoken!

See Me?
Can you see me?
Skin dark
Eyes brown
I am someone's
Son, nephew, grandchild
Even in a world so cruel
Where  violence is everywhere.
Can you see me?
A man with a heart
Not my skin color

Or my class

But see me as a human being.

Until Now

I look at you from different eyes
Seeing you like this
In a much different light
Then those eyes of yesterday.
You are one beautiful person
Shaped into a beautiful being
God's wonder of creation created
Fashioned, formed and put together
Like no one else
But you
Yes, you as I look at you.
And it wasn't until now
I see you as something better
Then you are clearly then.
But you are here in the now.
And until now I see a beautiful being
Like no one else.

Poem # 19

In your eyes

I see a different light

Maybe another you

Perhaps something about you

I see a certain you

A far side of you

The best side of you

And that's all I can see

Of you from inside out

Outside in...

Untitled

I'm experiencing some things right now

Dealing with a virus that won't go away

violence on the streets

This is a messed up time or day.

Everywhere you turn

Something's always going on

More violence on the streets

Same verse and same song.

a government that turned it's back

Not carrying or not

and not for the working class

Or do something better in fact.

I'm experiencing conflict all around

Fix what's been broken

Even when things seems rough

and after all the silence but no sound.

Marchers marching to a different beat

Echoes of protest thundering loud

and you can hear it by the sound of their feet

The shades of the past is suddenly shown.

The protesters in blue

Trying to defend themselves and the only they live

While the loud sounds of a crowd

Addresses their various views.

While there's violence around us

Peace will be found someday

As I experienced somethings in my head..... 10 july 2020

DARK SKIN, Light Skin

                                                                      A social commentary

Black is my skin

Tar baby...sambo

Negro

SKIN DARk as NIGHT

So DARK where there’s no light

Because BLACK is my skin.

They called me ugly

Because of the shade of my skin, you see

You know what, that don’t bother me

Because BLACK is my skin.

Charcoal BLACK SKIN

Dark as the night some say DARK as sin

Looking burnt beyond seen

Yes, even black a coffee bean

That's why BLACK is my skin.

Monkey DARK smut

So BLACK from your head to toes and all over the butt

Too dark for me

Much too dark would you agree?

And that’s why BLACK is my skin.

Let there be light....

Mixed breed, whop, wanna be white

Tanned and kissed by the sun

Every guy wants you and the tale of the tape begun

Light is what my skin is.

Half and half like putting in coffee as cream

Give me a light sister anytime a beauty that seems

Flawless, fearless and just so fine

I hope I’m not out of line

Because light is my skin.

 Silky smooth beauty

Long hair of beauty I see

With brown eyes so divine

Bedroom eyes to say you’re mine,

And light is my skin.

She's BLACK with kinky hair,

She’s light and her skin so fair,

She’s BLACK and loud

She’s light like those clouds

And it’s the skin I’m in.

BLACK SKIN, DARK SKIN

Light skin the skin

I’m in.        25 June 2020

Words

Enough said,

Words are only words

When you put it together?

Sew it together

Like a quilt

Rapped in love

Warm and just wonderful

Because words are not enough.

Catch a star

Don't let it go

Watch it fall and then

Make a wish

For wishes can come true

And to let you know

Words are not enough.

Dream your dreams

Don't let nobody turn you around,

Keep the faith and maintain that course

 Called life love hope, peace

And other things positive

But remember that words are not enough.

Enough said---

Words are only words

When spoken and spoken well

Because words are not enough.

The Vote Or Bullet

A Social Commentary

We need to press the issue
Of what’s wrong in our country
Or are the puppets of democracy blind and can’t see
How they’ll bent backwards to their own butts.

We need to press the problems
Out of the window of do nothingness
And drown it out to what’s not more but less
For the ones who are struggling day in and day out.

We THE ARE fed up
With its so-called leaders playing with lives so
And in return THE COLD you know
And the world turned all about.

One VOTE at a titimeme
To what’s wrong to right......

Stressless

I won't stress
I won't freak out
And AGAIN, being in a mess
All I can do is my very best---
Without all these feelings no doubt.

I cannot let stress
Bother me in the long run
Or burn me like the sun,
Or put me in an early grave
All I can do is my very best.

I won't let stress break me
Tear me down badly
Or make me go insane
No not on my watch
And not today.

I will survive
I will thrive
And I will make it
No matter what comes my way
And stress will not be part of my day.

Private Thoughts

Inside my head
Are mostly private thoughts
Secrets deep inside
Inside so no one can hear me
Or hear my thoughts.

I really won't say
What's on my mind
Or tell you what I am thinking
But keep it buried deep
SO, no one can know
How I feel but me and God.

Inside this mind
I can say what ever I think
No matter
No matter what anyone may say
Because they are my thoughts
No matter what anyone may say.

O Native Song

Dedicated to
PRESIDENT BARACK H. OBAMA,JR

History has been standing still
Waiting for perhaps a native son
To embark the journey's pressing mark
In order to fulfill
The task waiting ahead.

And as History awaits and see
From a distance walking in the dust of time---
The dust of eternity's passions relayed
I will somewhere be
Right there watching and waiting.
O native son welcome home to along side
The portals of time and space
Welcome home native son welcome.......

One

One voice,
One people,
One God,
One Faith
Bleed into one
Like colors blending
Into shades of colors
Like no other
And that's just the tip of it all.
If we all can see it like colors
Then and maybe then
The world would be a better place.
One voice,
One people,
One God,
One Faith,
Unlike anything else
Or perhaps anyone else
We can be as one
Together in unity
And as long
We are as one
We can unite nations
Spreading love
Where there is no love.
One voice,
One people,
One God,
One Faith,
Building up a nation
With unity
That goes beyond skin
Deep than skin deep
And more than color
For color has no boundaries
Beyond all of this and more
Because through God's eyes,
These things does not exists
Not even a minute
Or a second
Or an hour
Or even a minute
Or the thought of it,
We are one
Equal as one
In oneness

It Smell Like Sunday

Up in the early morning
While the sun is wakened up
I say a prayer and grab a cup
Of coffee to start the day,
I am so glad about it.
The Spirit is in the air
Moving my soul to music I hear,
Feeding my soul and blessing my ears
As the Lord showers blessings
I am so glad about it.

The Spirit is high we get close to God's house
With the choir sings to His Glory,
As we hear about that redemption story
On how we overcome
Yes, I'm so glad about it.

The Word of God is being preached
With so much power from among high
Enough to fill the skies
As the Angels rejoiced
Yes, I'm so glad about it.

There's a certain feeling
In the air this glorious day
God has blessed this in every way,
It smells like Sunday.

A Strange Night

Clouds gather together

Like a congregation gathers

Bunched together like it's one.

Then soon rumbling

In the skies like it's warning us

Or telling us to cease all things

And let the Lord do it's mighty work.

Now here comes the flash

A flash of light

Streaking across the skies

Like a runner

Running fast.

The winds make the trees bow

The seas roll
And is quiet---
With the rain stop
The winds are calm now,
The flash of light rest
And now there's calm.
A strange light
From the horizon
Peaks out where sea meet the skies
And finally
A rainbow with it's colors of bright

reminding us of God's grace and mercy.

to fly...

and they took up wings to fly.

Please, don’t cry for me,

You don’t need to shed a tear,

Just put those tears in a bottle then set it free,

And let it sail to the nearest ocean far away.

Please, don’t cry,

For each tear are the glorious memories

Of you, my darling daughter and me,

And from the distance you’ ll hear Moonlight Sonnet.

Don’t forget me and keep me in your memory,

The good and the bad that know best,

And keep us in your dreams as you rest,

As you lay your head on that pillow of love.

Sweet dreams to you

As we fly away to our distant home far away

Keep us in your thoughts every day,

Good night and sweet dreams.

...and they took up wings to fly.

Free

I took flight to my Heavenly home
No more tears for me to shed.
And it's in Heaven I shall roam,
When it's all been said---
I'm free yes I am free.

Say goodbye to my family friends for me,
Because I am going to a better place.
No more worries and problems you see,
Because it's in Jesus I'll see face to face---
I'm free yes I am free.

The worries of this world will be less,
And all that was expected of me.
Because where I'm going I'll be blessed
Yes blessed and I'll be free.

Bye bye world no more to be said,
My Savior's taking me home
No more tears yet to be shed
And Heaven is  where I'll surely roam
Because I am yes I shall be free.

THE NIGHT CHRIST WAS BORN

HEAVENLY PEACE WAS UPON THE EARTH,
HEAVEN SHOOK;
GOD'S GRACE WAS PUT UPON FOR GLORY'S WORTH,
SUDDENLY A STAR APPEARED IN THE MIST THEREOF,
A CHILD, SAVIOR OF THE WORLD BORN OF HIS LOVE,
TRUMPETS BLOW LOUD TO ANNOUNCE THE ARRIVAL OF THE HOLY KING,
ANGELS WERE THERE TO SING.
O, HOW WONDERFUL THE NIGHT SO STILL,
BUT HIS LOVE SHALL FULFILL. O, ANGELS BLOW THY HORN,
FOR THAT WAS THE NIGHT CHRIST WAS BORN.
